The map shows the ducal building sites in the duchy of Bavaria in a timespan from 1550 to 1623, financed by the Ducal Exchequer (Hofzahlamt).
In the annual account books of the Exchequer of Bavaria (Hofzahlamt), the expenses for ducal buildings split to “Court buildings in Munich” (Hofgebäude in München), “Grünwalder buildings” (Grünwalder Gebäude) and “Ingolstadt and other castle buildings, including water engineering” (Ingolstädterische und andere Schloßgebäude, auch Wasserbau). The latter section contains the various construction projects spread all over Bavaria. These financial data are often the single source to the ducal building sites in the second half of the 16th century, due to the incomplete tradition of the account books of the ducal building department (Hofbauamt).
